What to Wear

We included this section because it often passes through ones mind as they “get ready” to go out to a restaurant.  Although it is a very elegant looking restaurant, we encourage our patrons to dress however they feel comfortable.  We would never refuse anyone service on “how they were dressed,” but include this section to make your visit more comfortable

Black & blue could be considered a “business casual” environment --From khakis, collars and button-downs to suits, separates and dresses, business casual refers to the attire of the lunching professional

A moment on The King Crab

Alaska king crab fishing is considered to be one of the most dangerous jobs in North America. Every year, hundreds of fearless crab fishermen endure extreme weather conditions and harsh work environments with assertive hopes of catching excessive amounts of the most desirable seafood in the world- King crab!
Bristol Bay is the primary area where crab fishing occurs, with the small town of Dutch Harbor being the main hub of activity. King crab is also caught in Norton Sound, around the Pribilof Islands, along the Aleutian Chain, and a small amount off the coast of Alaska's southern pan-handle.

There was just one major harvest of red king crab in Alaska this winter. The season lasted only 4 days. Over 250 boats participated in the fishery (in the waters of Bristol Bay) and harvested a total of more than 14 million pounds. Alive, red king crab are actually a dark burgundy in color. When they are cooked they turn bright red- with firey-red highlights on the top part of the shell, and especially around the toes. Taste-wise, true red king crab is the best in the world. The meat is snow-white, with highlights of bright red.  Succulent, and served steaming-hot, there is no better meal.

black & blue was created out of the need for a new twist on the traditional steak & seafood restaurant – to take the “classics” and put them into a more contemporary setting.  In doing this there were a few things black & blue set out to accomplish;

to offer something new and different from your old stuffy traditional steakhouses your parents used to go to.

incorporate much of the personality of the old classic venues, like leather booths, armchairs, fireplaces, and straight-forward menus but mix it into a more elegant, chic surrounding, and some new fun dishes.

Offer a high valued experience at a discount price - significantly less than your traditional high-end steakhouses.

We are pleased with what we have come up with, and are confident you will too.  Please come visit black & blue.
